High school and independent teams compete throughout the year in
sports such as hockey, basketball, volleyball, track, curling, baseball,
softball, golf, football and bowling.
Facilities include modern skating and curling arenas with
artificial ice, a municipal swimming pool with slide, nine-hole grass green golf
course and clubhouse, fully-equipped gymnasium and basketball court a the the
high school, tennis courts, bowling alley, softball fields, a baseball field,
asphalt running track, and municipal parks with a wide variety of playground equipment.
Camping - Campers have the option of staying at either of
two parks in Hallock.
Gilbert Olson Park, located on the south branch of the Two
Rivers, offers 48 campsites, dump station, electrical, fishing, flush toilets,
playground, showers, swimming pool, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, canoeing,
basketball, volleyball.
Golfing, swimming, playgrounds, fishing, boating, and more are
all within walking distance.
The park has a nightly fee of $6 or $100 per month with 48
campsites and electrical hookups. modern restrooms and showers are
available, with access to a public swimming pool, just across the road from the
camping site.
The park is adjacent to Hallock's nine-hole, grass-green Two
River Golf Club, and also to the South Branch of the Two Rivers (fishing and
canoeing).
A playground with a large selection of equipment from swings to
basketball to volleyball nets will keep kids and parents busy.
The other park, Horseshoe Park, is located closer to the
downtown area. The park offers electrical hookups, modern restrooms, dump
station, playground, showers and a newly remodeled picnic shelter. The fee
is also $6 per night.
Swimming Pool - A city-owned outdoor heated pool with
diving board, two slides and lifeguard supervision is located at Gilbert Olson
Park.
Rates include $2 single person per day; $17.50 two-week vacation
single pass; $35 single season pass or $65 family season pass.
Swimming lessons are offered by Red Cross certified instructors
to many age groups.
Two River Golf Course - Avid golfers will enjoy Hallocks
9-hike grass green golf course, next to the Gilbert Olson Campgrounds.
There is new clubhouse open for use this summer.
Fees for the 2000 season are:
Weekday - nine holes, $8 U.S.; 18 holes, $13 U.S.; all day, $16 U.S.
Weekend/Holiday - nine holes, $10 U.S.; 18 holes, $6 each additional nine holes
with bi day rate.
Membership fees for the 2000 season season are:
$240 family, (family consists of two people from the same family, additional
charge of $10 for each child living at home and still in school); $175 single,
$60 student (7th-grade through full-time college.)
The club offers power golf cart rental at $10 per
nine-hole-round U.S. and $8 for each additional nine holes. Pull cart
rental rates are $1 U.S.
Clubs can be rented for $2.50 per round U.S. Balls, hoes,
gloves, tees and other equipment is available at the clubhouse pro-shop.
Carthouse storage is available, $85 - gas carts, $95 - electric
carts.
Rules are posted at the first tee off box. A new rule
implemented in the past couple of years is anyone 12 years of age and under must
be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older on weekends and after 3 p.m.
weekdays.
Tournament Schedule: June 5 - seniors; June 11 -
two-person scramble; June 22 - American Crystal; June - UMC Mark Olsonawski
scholarship golf tournament; July 15 - Agsco tournament; July 20 - Women's
tournament; July 27 - junior tournament; Aug. 5 - four person scramble;
September Vita Classic.
Tennis - Two lighted tennis courts are located on the
school grounds on the north end of town. The courts are open to the public
at no charge.
Softball Fields - Two softball diamonds are located in
Hallock, one at Gilbert Olson Park and the other near the high school.
County-wide men's and women's leagues utilize and maintain the facilities.
