Greenbush is located on State Highways 11 and 32 between Karlstad and Badger, and north of Strathcona. In 1904 the Great Northern Railway reached this area as the tracks advanced north from Thief River Falls. Many businesses and services still call Greenbush home since then. One of the special events in the city, celebrated since 1938, is Greenbush Sheep Days. This event is held each year in June. Other attractions include: the Greenbush Race Park, a beautiful nine-hole golf course and a swimming pool. The city also has six parks, tennis courts, and an ice arena. Greenbush is centrally located to hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Other recreation spots near Greenbush include Bemis Hill Park in Beltrami Island State Forest, Lake of the Woods, Zippel Bay and Hayes Lake State Parks.
